Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Hosts Annual Staff Engagement to Strengthen Fire Safety Measures

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to fire risk reduction and emergency preparedness at its 2025 Annual Staff Engagement, held at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa.

Themed “Mobilizing the Workforce Towards Fire Risk Reduction and Preparedness,” the event emphasized the agency’s mission to protect lives and property across Lagos State.

Delivering a keynote address, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Gbenga Oyerinde, commended LSFRS officers for their unwavering dedication to fire safety and emergency response. He highlighted the Sanwo-Olu administration’s ongoing investments in the agency, which include:

• The commissioning of 10 new fire stations, including those at Ijede and Ijegun-Egba.

• The successful hosting of the inaugural Lagos International Fire Safety Conference.

• The enactment of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Bill, strengthening fire safety regulations.

The Director of LSFRS, Mrs. Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, provided a review of the agency’s 2024 performance, reporting 1,925 fire-related calls and 578 false alarms. She urged officers to enhance their efficiency and responsiveness in 2025.

The event also featured the recognition of retired officers, the decoration of newly promoted personnel, and awards for outstanding firefighters, reinforcing LSFRS’s commitment to excellence in service delivery.

With renewed dedication and strategic planning, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard communities and enhance emergency response capabilities.
