Lagos State Rescues Nine-Year-Old from Sexual Assault, Perpetrator in Custody

The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD) and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has swiftly intervened in a case of alleged sexual assault involving a nine-year-old girl.
Following a viral video posted by Comedienne Princess, raising alarm over the incident, the state government took immediate action, ensuring that the survivor received medical care, psychological support, and protective custody.
Perpetrator Apprehended and Legal Action Underway
The alleged perpetrator, identified as Baba Michael, has been arrested and remains in custody, as legal proceedings commence. The DSVA is actively handling the case to ensure swift justice for the survivor.
Government Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, emphasized Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable residents. The Lagos State Government urged residents to adopt the “See Something, Say Something, Sort It Out” approach in reporting cases of abuse and exploitation.
Ogunlende wrote on X:
“The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development (MYSD), in collaboration with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has come to the aid of a 9-year-old girl allegedly molested by Baba Michael.
“The survivor has been placed in protective custody, and she is receiving necessary medical care and psychological support through counseling.
“The swift intervention underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting residents, particularly vulnerable persons. This is to reaffirm our zero-tolerance stance on all forms of sexual and gender-based violence.”
