Lagos State Unveils Public Display of Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan for Community Feedback

The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Physical Planning and Urban Development, is inviting residents to participate in the public display and inspection of the Draft Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan (2024-2044). This initiative reflects the state’s ongoing commitment to citizen engagement and transparent urban development processes.
Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, announced that the public inspection would run from Wednesday, February 26, to Friday, April 4, 2025. The plan, which outlines the future development of Ibeju-Lekki, will be displayed at five locations across the state, including key government centers such as the Ministry of Physical Planning and the local council offices in Lekki, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki.
This public display is a critical step in ensuring that the voices of Lagos residents are heard in shaping the future of their community. The Commissioner emphasized that the process adheres to the state’s law and international best practices, which prioritize citizen participation in urban planning. He urged residents to engage actively during the inspection period to provide valuable feedback that will help refine the plan and ensure its alignment with the needs of the community.
Dr. Olumide noted that the feedback received would be incorporated into the final presentation of the Ibeju-Lekki Model City Plan, set for April 11, 2025, at the Lekki LCDA Hall. This event will mark the official start of the plan’s implementation, signaling a new phase of sustainable urban development in Lagos.
Through this initiative, the Lagos State Government is reaffirming its dedication to creating well-planned, sustainable cities that foster community ownership, economic growth, and enhanced quality of life for all residents.
