LASG Seeks Collaboration with Residents for Sustainable Management of Government-Owned Estates

The Lagos State Government has called on residents of government-owned housing estates to fully cooperate with the administration in ensuring the sustainability, maintenance, and market value of their properties.
Speaking at a monthly stakeholders’ meeting held at Lagos HOMS Magodo-Isheri, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, represented by Permanent Secretary, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, emphasized that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration is committed to creating livable and well-maintained housing estates across the state.
The Commissioner outlined key initiatives by the government to achieve sustainable estate management, including:
• Engaging facility managers and insurance companies to maintain infrastructure and prevent risks.
• Regular stakeholders’ engagement to address concerns and educate residents on estate management.
• Encouraging residents to pay annual service charges, sinking funds, special levies, and insurance premiums to ensure proper maintenance.
Akinderu-Fatai also introduced the newly produced “Allottees’ Guide”, which provides updated information on responsibilities, facility management, and financial obligations for residents.
The meeting featured presentations from Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Ministry of Environment, and the Domestic and Sexual Violence Office, reinforcing the state’s commitment to creating safe and sustainable housing estates.
