LASUTH Hosts UNIMEDTH Officials for Knowledge-Sharing on Training School Operations

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has welcomed a delegation from the University of Medical and Health Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo State, for a strategic knowledge-sharing session on best practices in healthcare training and workforce development.
The UNIMEDTH delegation, led by Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof. Ayodeji Akinbodewa, sought insights into LASUTH’s successful establishment and management of its various training schools, which have become models of excellence in health sector manpower development.
Welcoming the delegation, LASUTH’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, emphasized the hospital’s commitment to capacity building and specialized training to strengthen healthcare delivery.
“Our training schools were created to bridge skill gaps and ensure professionals receive top-notch training aligned with the evolving needs of the health sector,” Prof. Fabamwo stated.
The delegation received presentations from the Directors of LASUTH’s specialized training programs, covering institutions such as the School of Anaesthetic Technology, School of Orthopaedic Cast Technology, School of Echocardiography, Caregiver Academy, and the School of Advanced Neonatal Studies.
Prof. Adebowale Adekoya, LASUTH’s Director of Clinical Services and Training, provided an overview of training programs, highlighting ongoing expansions, including the launch of a School of Paramedics and a School of Nephrology Nursing.
The UNIMEDTH team engaged with key stakeholders to gain insights into curriculum development, accreditation processes, and operational frameworks, further deepening inter-institutional collaboration.
Prof. Akinbodewa commended LASUTH for its excellence in training and knowledge-sharing, emphasizing that the insights gained would be instrumental in shaping UNIMEDTH’s training programs.
As healthcare training institutions continue to evolve, the LASUTH-UNIMEDTH collaboration signifies a strong commitment to developing skilled medical professionals and strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system.
