Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and bold economic reforms, describing them as foundational to Nigeria’s recovery and labour advancement.

Speaking at the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun praised the President for stabilizing the economy, lowering inflation, and strengthening the naira. “Asiwaju’s reforms have boosted productivity, improved workers’ welfare, and repositioned our economy for growth,” the governor stated.

He noted that the theme of this year’s celebration—Reclaiming the Civic Space in the Midst of Economic Hardship—underscores the need for stronger collaboration between workers and government. The governor pledged continued support for the state’s workforce and promised to commission a dedicated Workers’ Pavilion for the 2026 celebration.

Highlighting his administration’s commitment to worker welfare, Governor Abiodun revealed that N79.9 billion in pension arrears had been cleared, over 5,000 affordable housing units delivered, and N8 billion in palliatives disbursed to cushion fuel subsidy removal. He further applauded the Ogun chapters of NLC and TUC for their cooperative approach and peaceful industrial relations over the past 15 months.
