Minister Dele Alake: Nasarawa, A Strategic Hub for Nigeria’s Mining Sector

Nasarawa State is playing a pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s solid minerals sector, according to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake.
Speaking during a strategic meeting with Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, and Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, Minister Alake emphasized Nasarawa’s immense mineral wealth and its critical position in Nigeria’s mining future.
“Lithium reserves in Nasarawa are substantial. The state has become a central hub for mining in Nigeria, which is why collaboration with the state government is essential in scaling up mining activities,” Minister Alake stated.
Highlighting the growing international interest in Nigeria’s mining sector, he noted that ongoing reforms and policy advancements are beginning to yield tangible results, positioning the country as a key player in the global mineral economy.
A statement by Segun Tomori, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, revealed that the federal government’s 17-month-long strategic interventions have attracted global investors, fueling optimism for Nigeria’s mining industry expansion.
Governor Abdullahi Sule commended Minister Alake for his proactive leadership in driving President Bola Tinubu’s mining development agenda. He acknowledged that security remains a key challenge, requiring collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and the Ministry of Defence.
“This meeting is aimed at strengthening our partnership and developing security solutions that will ensure unhindered mining operations in Nasarawa,” Governor Sule emphasized.With the federal government’s commitment to strengthening security and infrastructure in mining areas, Nasarawa is set to further solidify its position as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s solid minerals development
