Niger State Government Disowns Fake Pilgrimage Sponsorship List Circulating Online
The Niger State Government has categorically disassociated itself from a list circulating on social media purporting to show government-sponsored intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. The clarification was made by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, who described the list as fake and misleading.
He emphasized that the state government operates through formal channels and that policies regarding pilgrim sponsorship—such as for healthcare providers, Pilgrims Board officials, and essential personnel—are implemented transparently and for operational efficiency. He condemned the deliberate attempt by mischief-makers to discredit the administration’s efforts at building a New Niger.
Bologi urged the public and digital media users to verify information from official and credible sources before sharing. He reiterated the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency and called for vigilance against disinformation aimed at undermining public trust.
