The Ogun State Government has commenced a recruitment exercise for 14 key positions needed to kickstart operations at the Gateway International Airport, underscoring its commitment to making the airport operational before the end of 2025.

The recruitment drive was announced in a circular issued on February 19, 2025, by the Permanent Secretary, Oladipupo Ogunfowora, on behalf of the Office of the Head of Service.

The positions to be filled include medical personnel, operations staff, ground handlers, and human resources experts, ensuring that the airport is fully staffed with competent professionals ahead of its launch.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, who initiated the airport’s construction in 2021, envisions the facility as a strategic economic hub and an alternative to Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. The airport is expected to generate over 25,000 jobs and boost economic activities in the region.

Interested candidates within the Ogun State Civil Service have been directed to submit applications through their respective agencies before the February 26, 2025 deadline.

Confirming the authenticity of the circular, Special Adviser to the Governor, Kayode Akinmade, emphasized that merit and competence would be the guiding criteria for selection.

With this latest development, Ogun State moves closer to positioning itself as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
