Ondo Government Revives Long-Abandoned Banquet Complex as Part of Urban Renewal Strategy

In a bold move to reclaim and complete abandoned infrastructure, the Ondo State Government, under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commenced the revitalization of the long-abandoned Modern Banquet Complex in Alagbaka, Akure. Originally initiated in 2005, the project has remained dormant since 2007.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, who visited the site, announced that the government is conducting a comprehensive review of the original contract and will soon carry out integrity tests on the structure. The revival aligns with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s urban regeneration drive aimed at reducing waste and maximizing infrastructure utility.
With Alagbaka GRA undergoing rapid urban renewal, the completion of the banquet complex is expected to add value to the state’s architectural landscape and provide a strategic venue for state functions and events. This initiative reflects the Governor’s resolve to complete legacy projects and deliver on the promise of inclusive, impactful development.
