Ondo State Asserts Regulatory Authority Over Gaming Activities

Ondo State has directed all unlicensed lottery and gaming operators to regularize their activities in compliance with state laws or face legal consequences. The directive follows a Supreme Court ruling affirming the jurisdiction of state governments over lottery and gaming regulations.
Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, emphasized the state’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ interests through a robust regulatory framework. Ajulo commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his support in upholding constitutional authority and advancing true federalism.
The Ondo State Lotteries Regulatory Commission will enhance its oversight, ensuring accountability and transparency in the gaming sector. Ajulo highlighted that the Supreme Court’s judgment strengthens the state’s ability to manage resources and protect its citizens effectively.
