Ondo State Conducts Trials to Select Athletes for Niger Delta Sports Festival
The Ondo State Liaison Committee for the Niger Delta Sports Festival has commenced athlete selection trials ahead of the upcoming championship in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, from April 1–9, 2025.
Speaking during the trials at Achievers University School Field in Owo, committee member Akintunde Akinsemola emphasized that the goal was to identify and select the best athletes from across the state.
“The level of participation here shows that Ondo State is on the right track in grooming top sports talent. Our commitment is to build a competitive team for the festival,” Akinsemola stated.
The trials, which have already witnessed massive turnout, will continue in Akungba Akoko, with final selections set to take place in Akure, the state capital.
This initiative aligns with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s broader sports development agenda, ensuring that Ondo State remains a force to reckon with in national and regional sports competitions.
