Oyebanji Restores Dignity of Ekiti Pensioners Through Unprecedented Support Measures

In a heartwarming endorsement of good governance, Ekiti State pensioners under the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) have thrown their weight behind Governor Biodun Oyebanji (BAO), citing unprecedented support, dignity restoration, and financial stability as reasons for their loyalty.
Speaking on behalf of the union, Comrade Tope Popoola, Acting Chairman of the NUP in Ekiti State, praised the Governor’s unwavering dedication to pensioners’ welfare. “If anyone asks why we pensioners in Ekiti State are endorsing BAO, here are a few reasons,” he said. “This administration has gradually liquidated inherited gratuity debts, settled seven months of local government pension arrears and three months of state pension arrears, and is paying ₦10,000 monthly palliative to each pensioner from December 2023 to November 2024.”
Comrade Popoola vividly recounted the hardship faced in the past when pensioners were owed between four to eight months of arrears. “We used to buy on credit at markets. Sellers would mock us, saying, ‘They’ve come again.’ But today, BAO has given us back our dignity. We can now walk into the market and pay proudly with our own money.”
This powerful endorsement serves as a testament to the Governor’s compassionate leadership, which has transformed the lives of senior citizens across the state.
