President Tinubu to Commission Africa’s Largest Cotton Factory in Ogun as Governor Abiodun Boosts Industrial Growth and Community Development
In a major stride towards industrial revitalization and economic empowerment, Ogun State is set to host the groundbreaking of the Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scheduled to perform the commissioning in the coming weeks. This ambitious project will house the world’s largest cotton and polyester processing facility within the Special Agro Processing Zone near the Gateway International Airport in Iperu/Ilisan, marking a monumental leap in Nigeria’s textile and agro-industrial sectors.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, announcing the development, emphasized that the initiative is not just about industrial progress, but a testament to Ogun State’s strategic advantage — strong infrastructure, central location, and a welcoming business climate. The massive project, spanning 400 hectares, is projected to generate 250,000 jobs daily, empowering youths and transforming lives across the region.
Further enhancing security and strategic relevance, the Nigerian Air Force has shown interest in establishing a base in Iperu to protect the airport and surrounding assets. This reflects the state’s deliberate planning in situating the airport at the heart of the region, making Iperu a hub of economic, infrastructural, and security advancements.
Governor Abiodun also highlighted his administration’s efforts to uplift local communities, including the development of 100 housing units, comprehensive road rehabilitation, school renovations, health center upgrades, and the construction of a new mother-and-child hospital.
In a heartfelt tribute, the Governor celebrated Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, former Accountant General of the Federation, for her exceptional contributions and commitment to community development in Iperu. Her story, he noted, is a source of pride and inspiration for all Ogun residents.
With the Renewed Hope Cotton Resurgent Initiative and complementary developments, Ogun State continues to blaze the trail in industrialization, job creation, and community transformation under Governor Abiodun’s visionary leadership.
