Promoting Health and Hygiene Among Lagos Public Servants

Lagos State Government is championing the cause of good hygiene among public servants to prevent the spread of cholera and other diseases. At the monthly fitness walk organized for state employees, the Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office, Mrs. ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola, emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene and engaging in regular physical activities.

Mrs. Oyegbola highlighted the administration’s commitment to the well-being of its public servants and all Lagosians, stating that a healthy workforce is essential for a prosperous state. She encouraged participants to adopt a proactive approach to health, recognizing that “health is wealth.”

In a bid to enhance hygiene practices, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health Management Agency, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, urged improved hygiene standards in schools, offices, and homes. She stressed the importance of seeking medical attention promptly if symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or dehydration occur. Dr. Zamba noted that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, and the Ministry of Agriculture, is dedicated to improving community sanitation and preventing disease outbreaks. She also highlighted the fitness walk’s role in raising awareness about the benefits of regular exercise and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
