Sanwo-Olu Rallies Lagos Youths to Enlist in Nigerian Army for National Growth and Personal Advancement

In a bid to harness the energy and potential of young Lagosians for national development, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on youths across the state to embrace the opportunity to enlist in the Nigerian Army. Speaking through the Secretary to the State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, during a stakeholder engagement held at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, the governor highlighted the expansive benefits of modern military careers.
The governor emphasized that today’s Army offers much more than conventional combat roles. With the integration of technology, education, and advanced professional training, the Nigerian Army presents an array of life-changing opportunities in fields such as law, medicine, and aeronautics. This aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, which prioritizes youth empowerment, education, and health.
The forum, which included parents, community leaders, religious figures, artisans, and youth groups, served to dispel outdated stereotypes about military service. The governor assured that the Lagos State Government stands firmly behind eligible applicants, providing support and encouragement as they embark on a path of national service and personal development.
In his remarks, the Olofin of Isheri Olofin, Oba Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu’s initiative and pledged to mobilize young men and women from his domain. He praised the administration’s forward-thinking approach to youth engagement and reiterated his support for the THEMES+ Agenda.
As registration for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake for Trades and Non-Tradesmen/Women concludes on May 17, 2025, the call stands as a strong reminder of the mutual benefits of military service — to both the individual and the nation. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s call reflects a continued commitment to creating inclusive opportunities and promoting national pride among the youth of Lagos.
