Sokoto Government Reaffirms Commitment to Youth and Sports Development

The Sokoto State Government, under Governor Ahmad Aliyu, has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalizing youth and sports development in the state.
During an inspection of key sports and youth facilities, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Engr. Mustapha Muhammad, emphasized the administration’s plans to renovate and upgrade sports infrastructure to meet national standards.
“Governor Aliyu is committed to reviving sports facilities and youth programs, ensuring that our athletes and young people have the best opportunities for growth and success,” the Commissioner stated.
Accompanied by Permanent Secretary Muhammad Bello Yusuf, the commissioner visited:
• Giginya Memorial Stadium (Basketball, Badminton, Handball, Volleyball courts, Gymnasium, Administration Block, Clinic)
• Grassroots Football Fields and Players’ Camps
• State Youth Development Center (Offices, Conference Hall, Training Workshops)
• Federal Youth Development Center, Bado (A facility neglected by past administrations)
The visit provided insights into areas requiring urgent rehabilitation. Officials commended the government’s proactive approach, emphasizing that a strong youth and sports sector is crucial to societal development.
The revitalization of sports and youth programs aligns with Governor Aliyu’s vision for empowering young people, fostering talent development, and positioning Sokoto as a hub for sports excellence.
