Sokoto State Government Provides Food And Financial Support To Religious Leaders Ahead Of Ramadan

The Sokoto State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmad Aliyu, has launched a food and financial assistance program targeted at Jum’at Imams, Na’ibs, Mu’adhins, Islamic scholars, and religious organizations to support them during the holy month of Ramadan.
Governor Aliyu, while unveiling the initiative, emphasized that the gesture aligns with his administration’s commitment to supporting religious institutions and ensuring that Islamic leaders can perform their responsibilities without financial constraints.
Key Beneficiaries and Support Breakdown:
• Jum’at Imams: Each Imam will receive five bags of maize and ₦100,000 in financial assistance.
• Na’ibs (Deputy Imams): Each will receive three bags of maize and ₦50,000.
• Mu’adhins (Callers to Prayer): Each will be given two bags of maize and ₦50,000.
• Senior Islamic Scholars: 300 scholars will receive ₦200,000 each, while 100 scholars will be given ₦100,000 each.
• Malaman Zaure (Grassroots Islamic Teachers): 10 religious teachers from each ward across the 23 local government areas will receive ₦50,000 each to sustain their religious obligations.
• Islamic Organizations: 150 religious organizations will each receive ₦300,000 to support their activities in promoting Islamic faith, values, and unity.
Mosque Development and Infrastructure Support
The Sokoto State Government has also undertaken a mosque renovation initiative, commissioning three remodeled Jumu’at mosques and beginning renovation work on over 30 more to provide conducive worship environments for the people.
Governor Aliyu reaffirmed that these interventions align with his 9-point Smart Innovative Agenda, which prioritizes community welfare, religious development, and social harmony.
“As a responsible government, we remain committed to the advancement of Islam and the well-being of our people. We will continue working towards a peaceful, prosperous Sokoto State guided by the values of righteousness, justice, and unity,” the Governor stated.
He further urged religious leaders and the people of Sokoto to support the administration’s policies and offer prayers for lasting peace and security in the state and the nation at large.
