South-West Governors Meet in Lagos to Discuss Regional Development and Security

Governors from across the South-West region convened at Lagos House, Ikeja, for a high-level meeting aimed at addressing pressing regional issues, including agriculture, food security, economic growth, and security challenges.

Attending the South-West Governors’ Forum meeting were:

• Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) – Chairman of the Forum

• Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo State)

• Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo State)

• Governor Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti State)

• Governor Dapo Abiodun (Ogun State)

• Governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun State)

The governors were welcomed into the executive chambers upon arrival, with Governor Sanwo-Olu hosting the crucial discussions.

According to Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the meeting focused on:

• Strengthening regional cooperation on agriculture and food security.

• Fostering economic development initiatives that benefit the South-West states.

• Enhancing security measures to protect lives and property across the region.

“The South-West Governors’ Forum remains committed to advancing collective economic growth, fostering collaboration, and improving security measures within the region,” Omotoso stated.

The last South-West Governors’ meeting was held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, during which Governor Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the Forum.

At the end of the current meeting, the media is expected to be briefed on key resolutions, outlining strategic actions aimed at strengthening governance and development initiatives across the South-West region.
