World Bank Hails Nasarawa State’s Achievements Under NG-CARES Programme

The World Bank has commended Nasarawa State for its remarkable success under the NG-CARES programme, describing the state’s progress as a model for other states in Nigeria and beyond.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, Dr. Lire Ersado, the Task Team Leader of NG-CARES, expressed deep appreciation for Governor Sule’s dedication to investing in the welfare of the poor and vulnerable in the state.

“Nasarawa State’s results under NG-CARES are outstanding. The state’s approach is setting a benchmark for other states in Nigeria and beyond. We appreciate the strategic investments His Excellency is making to uplift the lives of the poor and vulnerable,” Dr. Ersado stated.

The World Bank also announced that the next phase of NG-CARES will focus on sustaining existing achievements, strengthening institutions, and expanding the state’s social register to ensure no vulnerable individual is left behind.

Dr. Ersado stressed the importance of building resilience to economic shocks, including flooding, drought, and pandemics, by strengthening social protection systems.

The visit was facilitated by Umar Ibrahim Dahiru, CEO/State Coordinator of Nasarawa NG-CARES, who reiterated the state’s commitment to continuous collaboration with the World Bank to improve social welfare programs.
