WORLD BANK TEAM VISITS LAGOS PROCUREMENT AGENCY TO ASSESS E-GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT SYSTEM

A World Bank delegation recently visited the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency to evaluate the State’s electronic-Government Procurement (e-GP) system. Engr. Akin Onimole, a World Bank Procurement Specialist, praised the Agency for its achievements, particularly its user-friendly e-GP system. The visit is part of a continued partnership to improve and optimize Lagos’s public procurement processes. The delegation highlighted the efficiency and improvements brought about by digital procurement systems. The Director-General of the Lagos Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote, expressed gratitude for the Bank’s support in enhancing the system, noting that over 159 State agencies and 3,700 contractors are already onboarded. The World Bank team commended the system’s positive impact across the ministries and agencies they visited, aiming to make the procurement process more efficient and cost-effective.
