Yobe Government Engages Stakeholders on Contributory Pension Scheme

Governor Mai Mala Buni has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pension reforms, announcing plans to engage stakeholders in a dialogue on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) for state and local government employees.
During a meeting with the National Pension Commission (PenCom) delegation, Governor Buni emphasized that the dialogue aims to align government, labor unions, and civil servants on the benefits and implementation of the scheme.
“One key objective is to ensure a full understanding, acceptance, and long-term sustainability of the pension scheme,” Governor Buni stated.
PenCom’s Director General, Ms. Omolola Oloworaran, urged the establishment of a pension bureau and supporting laws to institutionalize the scheme, guaranteeing financial security for retirees.
Commending Governor Buni’s leadership in governance and infrastructure development, she assured that PenCom remains committed to supporting Yobe State in establishing a structured pension system.
With this proactive engagement, Yobe State is taking significant steps toward securing the financial future of its workforce, reinforcing trust and transparency in pension management.
