The Yobe State Government has announced plans to distribute 200 motorcycles to agricultural extension workers, a move aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving agricultural productivity.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, disclosed this during a two-day training session for extension agents under the Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) in Damaturu.

He emphasized that modernizing extension services is critical for boosting food security, increasing farmers’ productivity, and ensuring the adoption of best agricultural practices. The provision of motorcycles will enable extension workers to reach remote farming communities, bridging the gap between research institutions and rural farmers.

According to Permanent Secretary Muhammad Inuwa Gulani, the training program is designed to refresh and enhance the capacity of extension agents to effectively communicate new farming techniques, improved seedlings, and pest control measures to farmers across the state.

This initiative aligns with the Yobe State Government’s broader agricultural transformation agenda, aimed at enhancing productivity, supporting rural farmers, and driving economic growth through sustainable farming practices.
