Yobe State has flagged off the second round of the 2024 Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week (MNCHW), offering nine critical health interventions across 356 facilities in the state’s 178 wards. The program, integrated with state outreach, underscores the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes for women and children.
Flagging off the exercise in Damaturu, Commissioner for Health Dr. Lawan Gana highlighted interventions including routine immunization, Vitamin A supplementation, deworming, antenatal care, nutrition screening, and birth registration. The initiative targets 90% of the population, with healthcare workers instructed to prioritize hard-to-reach areas.
Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Management Board, Dr. Babagana Kundi Machina, called on stakeholders to ensure maximum outreach. The program’s launch featured the administration of micronutrients to children, reinforcing the state’s dedication to improving maternal and child health.
